Decision Day

 Decision Day

My first impression of Premier Pro was that it is very complicated. There are a lot of options for effects and edits that I can do to pictures and videos. Premier Pro will play a role in delivering the “story” for the project that I will be doing for class this year. If I do a video, I can use the effects of Premier Pro to edit out parts of the video that are not wanted. Also, using Premier Pro, a video can be altered to change color, and to blur or focus parts of the video.

My first impression of InDesign was that it too was very complicated. InDesign is used to create magazines, flyers, brochures, posters, newspapers, books, eBooks, and presentations. While using InDesign, there are options for digital publishing, ability to link content, and much more. InDesign would play a role in delivering the “story” for the project that I will be doing this year. Two of the main features that would be used would be the option to alter layouts, and for text frame fitting.

In the article, “Our Place in the Universe: The Importance of Story and Storytelling in the Classroom”, the writer speaks about the power that is held in stories, and storytelling. The author believes that a large part of who we are as humans comes through story telling. For example, the article states, “Storytelling is a part of who we are as humans.” This is related to Premier Pro and InDesign. I believe this because the stories can be told with certain power and meaning, just like Premier Pro and InDesign can give the story I am delivering the same power.

In the article, “Survival of the fittest: four editors on the future of literary magazines”, the writer gathered four editors of prosperous articles to talk. This is because of the problem and decreasing of reading. The author talked about a poll that was taken by 100+ writers, asking what literary articles they read or are subscribed to. The answer coming from almost all the writers were “No.” This goes to explain how people often do not read magazines or articles like they used to. With InDesign, you can make your articles, magazines, brochures, and other documents far more interesting with the effects that can be used

In the article, “Survival of the fittest: four editors on the future of literary magazines,” it is mentioned how Morgan seems to be realizing how literary articles are not a very great source of income, and that people need to use online sources, which would be a great example of where InDesign would come into play. The article talks about how magazines have problems editing also, which is perfect for InDesign. The article states, “Magazines and publishers have a very long history of needing to find ways to pay for their editing, printing, and distribution. They've always had to be clever to survive.” This goes with the idea of how things have changed, and websites and software that can be used to edit are now the new thing.
